Named in memory and honor of Dr. Marjorie E. Kettell, Class of 1947, this award is presented annually to bestow institutional recognition on one Harriet E. Richards Cooperative House alumna who has distinguished herself in her personal or professional life, in her intellectual pursuits, or in her dedication to service of community, country or society.
Dr. Martha Muñoz is an evolutionary biologist who currently runs her own lab at Yale University with a focus on discovering the motors and brakes for phenotypic diversity. Her lab is committed to fostering a climate of inclusivity and mutual respect to address the long-standing inequalities in STEM fields. She graduated from BU in 2007 with a B.A. in Biology with Distinction and from Harvard University with a Ph.D. in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology.
Among her many awards and honors, Martha was a Fulbright Scholar, named a ‘Scientist to Watch’ by The Scientist Magazine, and recognized by Boston University Department of Biology with the 'Distinguished Alumni Rising Star Award’.
During her time in the House, Martha was involved with Eat for Equity and has continued her involvement by hosting events in the Boston area during her time at Harvard.
